Lori's passion for pottery was born in classes taken at the Clayworks studio at Roberson Museum and Science Center in Binghamton, NY. Her work has sold well at Clayworks' fund-raisers and auctions. She now works out of her own fully-equipped studio. Lori has also sought more advanced instruction such as an intensive class in saggar and raku technique by Charlie and Linda Riggs at LaLoba Ranch Clay Center in Colorado and a raku class taught by Ramon Camarillo.
While working almost exclusively with wheel-thrown forms, Lori has explored various carving and deformation techniques. Early pieces were utilitarian glazed items but her work is evolving into more decorative and artistic forms as she explores the possibilities of saggar, raku, and glaze firings.
Lori's commitment to her craft and artistry continues to grow as the ebb and flow of family and career responsibilities allow.
Selected works are being offered for sale at Lori's shop at natureofclay.etsy.com.
